Privacy policy

Who I am

This website is run by Sanjay Barad, an independent software engineer based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. I decide how the personal data described here is used, and you can reach me at hello@sanjaybarad.com.

What I collect

I only receive personal data in these situations:

• Contact form: your name, email address, project type and message.
• Direct messages: whatever you choose to share by email or WhatsApp.
• Technical data: your IP address, browser details and the pages requested, handled by the hosting and security systems that keep the site running.

Why I use it

I use your data for these purposes, and no others:

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote, because you asked me to.
• To deliver and administer a project if we work together, as part of our agreement.
• To protect the site from spam and abuse, which is a legitimate interest for me and for visitors.
• To understand how the site is used, through visit statistics that don't identify you, which is a legitimate interest.
• To keep records that tax or other laws require.

Who handles it

I don't sell or rent personal data. A few service providers process it on my behalf so the site can work:

• Cloudflare hosts the site, delivers form emails and runs the Turnstile security check on the contact form. Turnstile looks at signals such as your IP address and browser to tell people from bots. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and page speed without cookies.
• Google provides the Gmail inbox where messages arrive.
• WhatsApp (Meta) handles any conversation you start there, under its own privacy policy.

International transfers

I work from India and my service providers operate worldwide, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on the safeguards offered by those providers.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don't become projects are deleted within 24 months. Project and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Technical logs are kept for a short period by the hosting provider.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me for a copy of your data, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how I use it. Email hello@sanjaybarad.com and I'll respond within 30 days. Laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the GDPR and US state privacy laws may give you further rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

The site uses encrypted connections, strict security headers, server-side validation and rate limiting. Form contents are not written to server logs. No system is perfectly secure, so if I ever learn of a breach affecting your data, I'll tell you as the law requires.

Children

This site is meant for businesses and is not directed at anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent me personal data, please contact me and I'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If the way I handle data changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
